Key Projects of Rotary Club of Jubilee Hills

Learning center

The Sarath Gopal Rotary Club of Jubilee Hills Learning Centre was born out of the utter generosity of two Rotarians of the RCJH. The genesis was in 2016 when Rtn Sarath Gopal decided to gift 200+ sq yds of land in the prime Gachibowli area to the Trust of our Club to build an educational institution. We decided to use the land to construct a Skill Development Centre in keeping with the long-term needs of our country.

In keeping with the regulatory requirements for educational institutes, the Centre launched a series of virtual programs beginning September 2020. LEARN (Learn English At Rotary Now), Money Super Hero (Financial Literacy) and BAT (Basic Accountancy with Tally) were begun and they met with huge success. Each program has its Champions from among the MC with strong support from the Rotarians of the Club. It would be worthwhile to mention that all these programs were conducted at Zero cost to the Club or the Centre. They were driven on a voluntary basis as well as from contributions made by generous Rotarians. We have reached a total beneficiary count about 1700 across the country with Financial Literacy attracting very large numbers. The Volunteer base for LEARN program has roped in volunteers from across the country who have signed up on our RCJH website and continue to do so. The BAT gives us immense satisfaction at having enabled a directly employable skill to deserving candidates. A Personal Excellence Module, consisting of Life Skills, Social Emotional Learning and Civic Responsibility is woven with the 4 way test and attached to each of these programs. This is Rotary’s signature input into the skill development programs with the hope of building a more committed work force for our country.

These Centre’s partnered with several organisations and NGOs in different ways to conduct these programs. Let’steachenglish.org, Metamorphosis, Tally, Ashraya, Swarnabharath Trust, Filmnagar School, Pragati Central School and others are our new network partners and we hope to continue to work together and enhance the scope of our association.

The Centre is the permanent service project of the RCJH.

Manikonda School - Breakfast

This is a programme we started in 2012-13 at a Zilla Parishad Primary School in Manikonda, which has 250 children from weaker section families.

When a few of us visited the school once around the time of the government-sponsored mid-day meal, we noticed how famished the children seemed as they lined up for their meal. We discovered that most of them had not eaten anything since the previous night! We therefore thought of providing a basic breakfast, cooked on site by the same women's group that cooks the mid-day meal. This programme is continuing, funded by our Rotarians and friends who are interested in helping such disadvantaged children.

The current cost is Rs. 20,000 per month, which, incredibly, works out to about Rs. 3 per day per child!

If you have friends in the US, it would amaze them that just one dollar virtually takes care of breakfast for one child for one month!

Please note that donations to Rotary Club of Jubilee Hills Charitable Trust  are exempted under Section 80G of the Indian Income Tax. Donations from foreign sources are also accepted in the FCRA account.
